Is Your Family Cursed?

My 24 year old son is scheduled to get married next month and one of the prayers it was suggested I pray for him was to pray against the spirit of divorce. And that his eyes would be opened and he would realize that marriage is truly a covenant that is instituted by God and it should not be taken lightly. Did I mention that he is currently living with the young woman he is scheduled to marry.  As I began to think about the prayer I began to think about my own divorce and the spirit of whoredom and adultery (spiritual and physical), and idolatry that eventually destroyed the marriage. I too lived with my husband prior to getting married in 1984 and we called ourselves "saved", but we definitely weren't sold out to the things of God.  We lived in sin and hypocrisy.

My thoughts also took me to my family lineage and allowed me to see what had taken place within my bloodline.  My grandparents were married over 50 years until the death of my grandfather in 1991.  However out of my grandparents 5 children 4 of their marriages ended in divorce or separation. My parents were separated for several years until my father's death in 2001. The 5th marriage was till death do us part when my auntie died in 1987.  Currently out of my 15 cousins 3 have never been married 3 are still married to their husband/wife for at least 10 years.  The other 9 of us are divorced or separated and some on their second marriages. The numbers, as they say don't lie.  There is a generational curse of divorce in my family line and it needs to be broken!

Author John Eckhardt in his book "Prayers that Break  Curses" says the spirit of divorce falls under "The Curse from the Seduction of Jezebel. Marriage in our American society is under attack like never before.  The divorce rate among christians is higher than that of non-christians.  Divorce has become the norm and no longer considered unacceptable.  It doesn't matter that God says He hates divorce.  However the seduction of Jezebel is running rampant in our society.  This seducing spirit draws people into whoredom and adultery away from the truth of God's word causing them to go into error, bondage and curses and brings about the judgment of God.

Divorce isn't the only curse that families today are dealing with.  How many children in our society, even in our families were conceived out of wedlock.  Bringing the curse of having bastard children. Today it is no big deal to have children out of wedlock, many have multiple children with different fathers.  Or how many have dealt with spirits bringing curses of rape and sexual abuse, homosexuality, how about pornography and pedophilia, and what about the spirit of lawlessness and rebellion, the spirits of alcohol, drunkenness and addictions, the spirit of murder and abortion. and the list can go on and on.

So what do we as believers do about it? How do we break these cycles and stop these generational curses from destorying our children, grandchildren and future generations? We speak the truth according to God's word, unashamedly and boldly!  The church has been silent for too long and has compromised God's word in so many areas, but it's time that the bride rise up in preparation for her bridegroom.  The word of God says that " the Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence and the violent take it by force". Matthew 11:11.

So it's time we take back our families and break those generational curses that would keep us in bondage and slavery. We speak God's Word, over our families our children our communities and we repent for past sins.  We call forth the future generations of true apostles, prophets, evangelists, who would be the ones raised up to deal with the spirit of Jezebel, Belial and others. We break and destroy the curse over our families and take back what the enemy has stolen!

Breaking the Eli Sindrome

How many of you know the story of Eli the priest. It's found in 1 Samuel 2:12-17, 22-36, 3:8-18. Eli was a priest and judge over Israel, but he had 2 wicked sons which he allowed to run wild in the temple without chastisement or discipline. These sons did everything which was abominable in the sight of the Lord. They had no respect for God, for the Temple nor for their father who was a priest over the temple. So because Eli refused to take charge and restrain his sons God held him accountable for their actions and rebellion. "For I have told him, that I will judge his house forever for the iniquity which he knows, because his soms made themselves vile, and he did not restrain them."

Wow lets think about this story. Eli was a leader, a priest in the temple. He had position, authority, prestige, credibility but none of this amounted to much in the sight of God when he did not lord over his own household as effectively. His sons were "spiritual rebels" as one author puts it. So now lets ask ourselves how many of us are like Eli. How many of us would even dare to admit that we like Eli have raised "spiritual rebels" in our sons and daughters. Sons and daughters who have rebelled against God and want nothing to do with him. They have been allowed to come and go unchecked by mothers and fathers who are too busy with the things of ministry or church to take time and discipline their own children. Yet they feel they can tell others how they should run, their homes. Why, because they might wear a title. Not so. On the contrary. 1Timothy 3:4,5 tells us what is expected of godly leaders, 'one who rules his own house well, having his children in submisssion with all reverence ,(for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?)

Parents this thing is important to God. This Eli Sindrome as I call it, is no joke. There is too much compromise in the Body of Christ when it comes to leaders raising Godly children. When I was growing up they used to always say that preachers kids were always the worst ones. Why is that? In my case, I wasn't a preachers kid but I was a preacher's wife and therefore raised preacher's kids. 3 of them to be exact. How many of them are sold out and living for the Lord. Zero! Why, because of sin, hypocrisy, compromise, failure to discipline, and getting caught up in the business of doing church instead of living God's word. Failing to be accountable to God for the precious gifts he had given.

God will hold us accountable just as he did Eli over raising our children up. In order to rule well our emphasis must be on teaching our family/children or others in our household the things of God. We must be an example and practice what we preach. We can't get so involved in ministry, our jobs or careers that we deglect to do as the word teaches us in Proverbs, "train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it."  The message version says, "point  your kids in the right direction, when they're old they won't be lost."

Parents if you are still raising children it's not too late to take charge and walk in the authority that God has given you. Just like our heavenly Father disciplines us when we sin, misbehave, or have stank attitudes because He loves us. We must do the same for our children as well as others who may not be our children but whom we have authority over as spiritual leaders and authorities. We chastise, discipline, rebuke, correct, whatever you choose to call it because we love them and want long life for them.

And if your children are grown and away from the home, still know that it is not too late.  Prayer, submission and relationship with the Father will change things. Believe for their salvation as I am doing and truly, truly live a life without compromise before them.  Speak the truth at every opportunity and let them know you love them enough not to let them stay in their mess. Destroy the Eli Sindrome over your life and theirs.

I Will Not Be Silent

This year is going to be a year full of excitement and promises as we walk with Father and allow Him to order our footsteps.  I spoke earlier with one of my college students from Shaw University and she was filling me in on the events which had taken place since I had last seen them on Sunday.  The opportunity came for she and some other students to speak out about a situation of confusion and violence that had taken place in the cafeteria.

They chose to speak out and confront the forces of evil head on.  After a while they were asked to leave the cafeteria because they were causing a disturbance and the other students were not eating. People began to call them crazy, and ridicule them  They said things like it don't take all that.  I'm a Christian myself and it don't take all that was the comment made by one of the resident advisors.

As I was thinking over everything that she shared with me and the bold stand for righteousness that these 7 young women made I asked myself when was the last time I stood on top of a cafeteria table with a bible and cried out repent! Repent! For the Kingdom of Heaven is near!  What about you! When was the last time you decided enough is enough and you would no longer tolerate the blatant sin that was all around you.  You would no longer keep silent and cower away to the other side of the room, the office, the cafeteria, the classroom, etc.

Would you operate like other so called Christians that watched them be persecuted and ridiculed but did not stand up with them, but hung their head in shame. Would you join them in their crusade for holiness or turn and look away. Saying the same exact words as others, "It don't take all that."

Our theme for this 2011 year is Wasting Our Lives for Jesus!  It will take all of that and a whole lot more.  We cannot be silent in this year and expect to achieve results that will make an impact on those we encounter.  Because the Shaw students boldly spoke Truth their words were heard and people were affected by it. How many will we choose to affect by opening our mouths against the lies that the enemy has fed our nation, our families, our young people and the people we encounter each and every day. Our Pastor often says that our silence means that we are in agreement.

Our agreement should be this! "I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes!"  If we are not ashamed of the Gospel then we cannot be ashamed or fearful before men to open our mouths and speak God's word.  God's Word is Truth. Let's not be silent!

2011's Gonna be a Fantastic Year

Hello all and Happy New Year to everyone!  I am so thankful to be back in the United States of America!  There is no place like home!  However I must say that South Africa was truly amazing!  That continent is truly rich, and the people really blessed my soul. The children we met and ministered to captured our hearts.  They were so grateful and thankful when receiving the gifts that we shared.  One of my favorite encounters was meeting a wonderful older lady named Hilda. She invited us to come into her home which was maybe about 6 x 6 tin enclosed box.  In it was her stove with Kerosene laterns for cooking.  A bed and a makeshift counter with a bucket filled with water.  The place was spotless and everything in it's place. There was a spirit of contentment on her face.  Although to the natural eye she had little and was in need but in all actuality she had everything.  As we left we gave her a ziplock bag with toiletries.  She told us thank you very much and then said; whenever you receive anything you must always tell God thank you.  How right se is.

I took away much from South Africa and am very excited about this new year. God is prompting me o pursue those dreams and visions that He has given me over the years.  Dreams and visions that have been buried under piles of paper, on to do today lists, or in journal notebooks tucked away after being completely filled.  On my to do list this year is to break the spirit of procrastination in my life once and for all.  There is so much to be accomplished in the next 358 days.  Time waits for no one!

So join me in making 2011 a fantastic year in your life as well.   Revisit some of those goals, dreams, and visions that Father has placed on your heart.  My trip to South Africa was one of the goals I had for 2010 to travel.  I want to travel to all 7 continents before I leave this earth.  I'm well on my way having traveled to 3, only 4 more to go.  We serve a great God and He desires to give us the desires of our heart, because our desires are aligned with His purpose and will for our lives.

So let's "just do it" for 2011.

We owe Everything to God!

Good Morning and welcome to my Chosen One blog!   I am so excited about what God is doing in the Body of Christ!  This is my first time blogging as they say and technology today is totally mindblowing! Today is a special day because just a few hours from now I will be boarding a plane  headed to Johannesburg South Africa!   God is so totally, totally amazing and I am in awe of His goodness towards us time and time again.

One of the things that we have been hearing over and over again is how ungrateful and unthankful we as a generation, as a society  have become.  We think someone owes us something.  We actually think God owes us something.  Not!!!  On the contrary we owe everything about our lives to Him.  Without Him we would not even exist!  Many people have no idea of this truth.  The word of God says "For in Him we live and move and have our being........We are His offspring." Acts 17:28  "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness."  2 Peter 1:3.

Thank you Abba!  We belong to you and owe all of who we are to you!  I realize that I am absolutely nothing without you!  Thank you for sustaining me and being my lifeline.  As I travel to South Africa on today I will be reminded of your kindness and graciousness to all of mankind.  I am excited about the lessons I am to learn from this nation that I evolved from but yet know so little about.  Please use me however you deem necessary to be a blessing to them as well.

So for those reading this blog do this; As you go about your day and whatever you may be doing, please do it with a heart of gratefulness and thankfulness.   God your maker and creator watches from above and sits ready and willing to bless those who know the password.  Thank you!
